I woke up a half hour later than usual and started to do my skipping. But I soon realised that I wouldn't be able to get through them all and have time left to get all the breakfast done, baby dressed and out the door to daycare so I abandoned them around the 150 mark.
But this afternoon after I picked up Max from day care, gave him a snack, I plopped him in the baby jail (playpen) and put on baby TV while I did my workout. Started the skipping from zero again and flew through them easily. Bubs was still occupied by his toys and the TV so I was able to get through the rest of the workout with just a few minor interruptions for moving him around to different play areas to keep him occupied.
Suspect parenting skills I think. But he got his own back by laughing at me while I was quivering on the floor after the floor jumps. Then while grimacing and grunting through the double katanas he thought that was super funny.
But the main thing is that the workout is done just in time for me to sit him down for dinner before bath and bed. I am going to need the bath tonight too as I am a big glob of jelly today. Legs and arms are still really feeling it. A great workout.
I usually have to wait until the wife gets home as I have to go down to the road to do the skipping. Interested in what Baby TV you use - we are big fans of Baby Einstein. Just plop him in the beanbag(he can't get out yet) and he will watch for ages.
ReplyDeleteI worked out with the skipping early on that I can't go slow or I trip up.
Baby TV is just the station that is on cable - two stations after BBC. It is bright, musical and colourful and very child appropriate.
ReplyDeleteMax just loves TV and he can totally zone out on it which makes me wonder how many synapses are firing while he watches. So I only have the TV on when I need him to be really distracted for any length of time - ie during a workout.
He is only 9 months old so I don't want him to become addicted just yet. I make sure he has lots of developmental type toys around him too though just to alleviate the guilt. He does tend to creep about the furniture while watching though so he is getting some exercise. He will be walking soon so I will have to have another plan.
Saturday mornings and Sundays are good as Hubbilicious can amuse him for the duration of the workout but on the other days I am on my own as Hubbilicious works stupidly long hospitality hours.
Tracey- give yourself a break! A bit of TV- age appropriate ain't gonna harm him!
ReplyDeleteDo remember, that happy parents bring up happy kids! And whilst I'm sure you are not particularly happy when you do your skipping,(!) your increased self confidence and pride in your own wellness and body image now and at the end of this will have a huge positive knock on effect on your lovely little Max!
